GLEE continues to provide interesting courses for enthusiastic adults, after the closure of the WEA branch which began here over 40 years ago. Our small band of volunteers welcomes students, from Godmanchester and further afield, to our refurbished venue at the Queen Elizabeth School, next to Godmanchester's Chinese Bridge. When face-to-face meetings aren't possible, we hold courses over Zoom, enabling more distant participation. We aim to hold two five-week courses in each autumn and spring term, with single talks in the summer, all at modest fees.

Course Title: Costume in Film
Course Description: Clothes might make the man, but the role of the cinematic costume designer can be crucial in making or breaking a whole film. Costumes can evoke bygone eras, tell us hidden truths about characters, make outlandish otherwordly futures believable, and so much more. Come and explore some great examples from more than a century of cinema history.

Course Title: Introduction to Japanese History and Culture
Course Description: Through the lens of Julian's trips to Fukushima to research the recovery from the 2011 Tsunami and Radiation disaster in North East Japan, his series of talks aims to give an overview of Japanese history, geography, culture, art and belief. How ultimately some positive effects have come from the recovery of the disaster, and where Japan is today.
