St Neots Learning Group ("SNLG")

The St. Neots Learning Group developed from the WEA branch founded in the 1930s and which carried on until 2019 without any interruption. For many years the group met in schools in the town but about 18 years ago decided to change venue and experiment with having an afternoon rather than an evening class. We knew that having a daytime course would exclude most working people and we were surprised that numbers increased until classes cane to a halt with the start of the Pandemic in 2020. Our venue, Pilgrim Hall, is part of St Neots United Reformed Church and is in Moores Walk, a pedestrian access just off the High Street. The church is just past Argos. There is paid parking in the Tebbutts Road car park where the minimum charge of £1.60 allows parking for 2 hours. The car park is a two minute walk from the hall, which is served by stairs and a lift.

Courses of 9 or 10 weeks include a half term break.

Course Title: The Women Who Built The Film Industry
Course Description: Despite the classic image of the all-male cigar-chomping Hollywood moguls of yesteryear, many of the true pioneers of the art and science of film were women: directors, writers, producers, actors, technicians and even stunt performers. They played a huge role in creating the most important global industry of the twentieth century - without ever getting their names on the doors. Come and celebrate some of their stories and find out why you’ve never heard of them – and why you should have.
