Higham Ferrers Learning Group has 30 members and runs two 10 week courses each year on Tuesday mornings in Spring and Autumn. We meet in Hope Methodist Church in the centre of Higham Ferrers. The church has recently been refurbished and now provides an outstanding venue for our courses with free car parking. Attending the first lecture of a course is free and without obligation to continue. The course fee is collected in the second week.

Course Title: Stanwick Lakes: A Landscape of History and Nature
Course Description: Join Nadia Norman, Heritage Coordinator at Stanwick Lakes—self-confessed history geek and lover of all things historic—as she takes you on a ten-week journey through the fascinating stories of the site. From ancient settlements and Roman roads to medieval industry and modern transformations, we’ll uncover the layers of human history that have shaped this extraordinary landscape. But history is only half the story. Stanwick Lakes is also a living, evolving landscape, where wildlife thrives among the echoes of the past. Together we’ll explore how nature and heritage intertwine, revealing a place that is both historically rich and ecologically vibrant. Each week will offer discoveries, mysteries, and stories that invite you to look closer, ask questions, and see the familiar landscape in a whole new light.
