Course Title: The Show Must Go On - Dancing Through Time
Course Description: The Show Must Go On Artifice meets artifice head on in the course that addresses the art of performance and the business of painting said performance. We explore the relationship the artist has as a key member of the audience – many became synonymous with specific genres: Degas with the ballet at the Opera and Toulouse-Lautrec who showcased the rising stars of the Montmartre Cabarets. Dancing Through Time Dance has long been a subject explored by many artists, as is shares key aspects with the art of painting- composition, movement, rhythm, spacial awareness and more. It’s a form of expression that has played an important role in human life, from early participatory religious dance to performance dance as we know it today. With its unique ability to unite, inspire and capture the imagination, it’s no wonder that it has been such a profound source of inspiration for artists through the ages.
